A high-end Somatom Emotion tomography scanner provides an excellent quality of imaging; it requires minimum radiation dose, enables a non-invasive evaluation of a lesion, and significantly reduces the time of procedure. As a result, we can offer our patients even more comfortable and precise diagnosis.
In May 2010, the ENEL-MED Diagnostic Laboratory in Poznań located at the F. Raszeja Hospital was equipped with a new 16-slice computed tomography Siemens scanner. The Somatom Emotion 16 scanner replaced the Somatom Balance CT scanner, which was available to our patients in Poznań from 2005.
“This investment is the expression of our concern about the needs of our patients and co-operating centres. The new scanner will be used to conduct standard tomography scans. In addition, it will allow us to extend the offer to cover high-technology vascular structures examinations, respiratory track and alimentary canal tests”, says Beata Leszczyńska, the Diagnostics Section Director at the ENEL-MED Medical Centre.
The Somatom Emotion scanner makes use of many cutting-edge technologies of scanning, images reconstruction and patient protection against radiation exposure.
The specific solution available in the scanner includes the support of oncological and neurological procedures to allow faster and more precise diagnoses. The new system is a perfect solution for early detection, evaluation and intervention planning in case of any types of tumours. It is also essential for embolism or intracranial haemorrhages detection.
The new CT scanner has been used to examine the commercial, subscription and NFZ (the National Health Fund) patients as well as patients covered by a health insurance from the beginning of June. The total value of the investment in Poznań amounts to over 2 million PLN.
